The Timber Batts Inn is located in a charming 15th century building, nestling in idyllic Kentish countryside with a lovely garden and car park. The glorious hilltop view over rolling farmland, from the grassy sitting-out area offers unparalleled views. This quaint and delightful Inn offers guests a cosy atmospheric bar with an old fireplace, a roaring log fire, low beamed ceilings, comfortable, well spaced tables and a warm feeling of friendly hospitality.

Be tempted by this perfect hideaway with its variety of ales and beers and range of dishes served inside and also outside in our garden during the summer months. Everything is fresh and made to order and we have a variety of menus from which to choose. All ingredients are sourced locally when possible and many of the main dishes are based on local fish, Aberdeen Angus beef and Romney Marsh lamb.

The Timber Batts in the hamlet of Bodsham near Wye in Kent is a little corner of England that will be forever France, especially if proprietor Joel Gross has anything to say about it. An authentic French restaurant, deep in the Kentish countryside.

Telegraph UK Pub Guide

Usually when you leave a pub, the landlord doesn't kiss you on both cheeks and say: "Merci beaucoup. A la prochaine." A non-committal "Bye now" is about as good as it gets.

But not at the Timber Batts. Despite being tucked away in the sleepiest of Kent countryside, it has completely French bar staff, sports a tricolore alongside a Union Jack.

In fact, there's barely a flat surface which isn't occupied either by a pottery frog, a metal frog playing a musical instrument, or some other form of decorative ''amphibiabilia''.

The Mobile Food Guide
Keep following the signs to Bodsham along the narrow country lanes of Kent and you will eventually find The Timber Batts. What a reward awaits you at this charming pub restaurant hiding in such beautiful countryside.

On our lunchtime visit The Timber Batts was busy but everything was relaxed. A warm feeling of friendly hospitality immediately hits you as you enter the cosy red-brick and low-beamed fifteenth-century building. Our delightful waitress escorted us around the small bar area and talked us through the blackboard menus. Everything is fresh and made to order and of course the blackboards change daily. All ingredients are sourced locally when possible and many of the main dishes are based on local fish, Aberdeen Angus beef and Romney Marsh lamb.
